Army Veteran raising funds for urgent spinal surgery

Alex served in the Royal Military Police for 15 years, deploying twice to Iraq and twice to Afghanistan, where she bravely supported her team through some of the most challenging operations.

In 2009, at just 26, she was caught in a blast while deployed overseas. Though she survived without visible injuries, the trauma left her with a cervical spine injury that has worsened over time.

Now an English teacher and devoted mum to a 4-year-old daughter, Alex is facing unbearable pain, numbness, and loss of mobility due to a herniated disc pressing on her spinal nerve. Her specialist has confirmed she urgently needs spinal surgery, specifically an anterior cervical decompression and fusion to relieve the pressure, stabilise her neck and prevent this 16 -year becoming an irreversible disability.

Unfortunately, the NHS waitlist is over 12 months long. Alex cannot wait that long. She is currently unable to work, struggling daily with pain and a huge impact on her mental wellbeing.  Not to mention missing precious moments with her daughter like bedtime cuddles and school pick-ups.

To receive surgery before Christmas, Alex needs to raise £15,000 to go private. Her friends have launched a JustGiving campaign and raised over £2,000 in just a few days, but momentum is critical. Alex has always been the one to lift others up. Now she needs us.

Every donation, share, and word of support matters.
